HR Dive is seeking an ambitious journalist with deep subject-matter expertise to lead coverage for a new publication. As Europe Editor for HR Dive, you will make an immediate impact as we launch a daily newsletter for HR executives in the UK and EU.
You’ll help us shape the newsletter’s coverage, working closely with an existing team of U.S.-based editors and reporters to identify, write and edit stories on HR news, trends, and labour and employment law. You will interview HR executives and other relevant sources. You will help elevate all types of stories, whether it's breaking news or an in-depth analysis, and assist in planning and executing big projects.
Successful candidates will help set coverage strategy for our audience of HR executives, chase down scoops, and juggle daily and long-term deadlines. The ideal candidate will be well-sourced with HR leaders and have a high degree of knowledge about the HR field, especially with respect to labour and employment law. This position reports to HR Dive’s lead editor.
What you’ll do:
Help us define coverage strategy for a new daily newsletter focused on Europe’s HR sector.
Build a beat, develop sources, regularly pitch stories, cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders and hunt down scoops.
Report and write an average of 5 articles per week, of varying length and depth.
Edit colleagues’ work and assist with the operations of the daily newsletter.
Cover industry events.
Occasionally help lead webinars relevant to your beat.
Qualifications:
What you can bring to the table:
Proven track record of reporting, writing and editing news stories, preferably on labour and employment law in the UK and EU.
Familiarity with digital newsletter and website publishing operations and objectives.
Previous experience shaping coverage for an audience of HR executives, with a working knowledge of digital publishing key performance indicators.
Ability to quickly take ownership of a specific beat through original reporting and building relationships with important and diverse sources.
An ability to manage ambitious and innovative reporting projects.
Experience with substantive editing, copy editing and fact-checking content as well as writing headlines that drive content discoverability.
Deadline-oriented time management skills and ability to turn around stories on tight deadlines.
Comfort with social media and the ability to build an audience on major platforms to enhance the scope and reach of your work.
Bachelor's or master's degree in journalism, or a similar field, or equivalent experience.
At least 5 years’ relevant journalism experience.
Additional Information:
