3D Designer
Job
At Global, we think big, work hard, and never stand still. We’re the proud home of the best media and entertainment, driven by our talented and passionate people. Our mission? To make everyone’s day brighter - our Globallers, our audiences, our partners, and our communities. Whether we’re in the studio, building world-class technology, or securing record Outdoor advertising partnerships, we make sure we’re doing it as a team.
Your New Role:
We’re looking for a 3D Artist / Motion Graphic Designer to join the team, based at our Leicester Square office, creating the environments and content that bring our brand new state-of-the-art XR studio to life.
This is a role for someone with strong 3D design and motion graphics skills, ideally with experience building content for virtual production and real-time engines such as Unreal Engine.
You’ll design and build 3D environments in tools such as Cinema 4D, Blender, then optimise and configure those environments in Unreal Engine before previewing and refining them live via Disguise’s RenderStream workflow on the XR stage.
This will largely be a 9 to 5 role, though there may occasionally be a need to work outside of these hours to support shoots, OBs and/or recordings.
We’re looking for someone who is a strong creative problem solver, technically minded and a quick learner, comfortable balancing artistic vision with the practical constraints of real-time production.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Optimisation (70%):
- Design, create and build high-quality 3D concepts, storyboards, environments and assets using Cinema 4D and/or Blender for use on the XR stage.
- Optimise 3D environments and assets for real-time performance in Unreal Engine, balancing visual fidelity with frame-rate and technical constraints.
- Configure and preview environments live via Disguise’s RenderStream workflow, working closely with the studio operations team to bring content to life on stage.
- Create motion graphics and visual content to support XR productions, promos, social content and on-air graphics packages.
- Stay current with best practice in Unreal Engine, Cinema 4D and Disguise’s RenderStream pipeline, bringing new techniques and efficiencies to the team.
- Build and maintain a library of reusable 3D assets, environments and templates to speed up future productions.
- Ensure we remain up-to-date with design techniques/models across the industry.
Technical Operation & Stakeholder Collaboration (30%);
- Collaborate with directors, producers and the XR Studio Manager to translate creative briefs into production-ready 3D environments.
- Ensure environments are calibrated correctly to the physical stage, including scale, tracking volume and camera lens matching.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with environments, textures, lighting and render performance quickly and effectively, alongside the XR Studio Manager.
- Work with the wider Video, Engineering and Production teams to understand production requirements and deliver assets to schedule.
- Support on-stage rehearsals and shoots, making live adjustments to environments and content as required.
- Communicate creative ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Prioritise multiple projects effectively, adapting quickly when creative briefs or production schedules change.
What You’ll Love About This Role:
- Think Big: Design the immersive worlds that bring Global’s cutting-edge XR studio to life.
- Own It: Take creative and technical ownership of environments from first concept through to the final render on stage.
- Keep it Simple: Build reusable assets and workflows that make complex 3D pipelines simple for the whole team.
- Better Together: Collaborate closely with Studio Operations, Engineering, Video and Production.
What Success Looks Like:
In your first few months, you’ll have:
- Built a strong understanding of the XR studio’s Disguise RenderStream pipeline and how environments are calibrated to the physical stage.
- Delivered high-quality 3D environments and motion graphics content for live productions.
- Developed an efficient workflow for taking assets from Cinema 4D/Blender through Unreal Engine optimisation to RenderStream preview.
- Built strong working relationships with the Studio Manager, Engineering and Production teams.
- Contributed to a growing library of reusable environments and assets.
- Demonstrated confidence learning new tools and techniques across the 3D and virtual production pipeline.
What You’ll Need:
Essential:
- Proven experience as a 3D Artist, Motion Graphic Designer or similar, with a strong portfolio of 3D environment and motion graphics work.
- Strong skills in Cinema 4D and/or Blender for modelling, texturing and lighting 3D environments.
- Experience optimising 3D content for real-time engines, ideally Unreal Engine.
- A solid understanding of real-time rendering principles, including polycount, texture optimisation and performance budgets.
- Strong motion graphics skills, ideally including Adobe After Effects.
- A good eye for design, composition, lighting and colour.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet under production pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate creative briefs into technical outcomes.
- Good task prioritisation and time management across multiple projects.
- A proactive, self-led approach to learning new tools and techniques.
Desirable:
- Experience with Disguise software, ideally including RenderStream, Designer and show file build.
- Experience working in an XR studio, virtual production stage or LED volume environment.
- Understanding of camera tracking systems and how they interact with real-time environments.
- Knowledge of Unreal Engine Blueprints or similar visual scripting tools.
- Experience with 3D scanning, photogrammetry or procedural environment tools.
- Knowledge of colour management and calibration for LED walls/volumes.
- A background that combines both artistic/creative and technical skills
