Editorial UI Designer
studiogig
Summary:
I’m looking for a product/UI designer to refine the existing design for LOOM, an independent, writing-first social app currently preparing for a small beta.
LOOM is designed around discovery and genuine human connection rather than virality or performance. A gentle space to hold personal online expression and intimate writing.
We care deeply about how design shapes behavior -- how typography, atmosphere, interaction, and the feeling of a space can make people more willing to slow down, and encounter work they wouldn’t otherwise find.
We’re looking for a designer who finds that problem genuinely interesting.
The core product and visual direction are already established, and I have working Figma mockups. I’m looking for someone with a strong visual eye and excellent UX judgment to take the design from a developed concept to a polished, implementation-ready beta.
The beta itself is intentionally lean: primarily Explore/feed, reading, writing, basic profiles, and lightweight interaction.
You’ll help with:
- Refining typography, spacing, alignment, color, and visual hierarchy
- Improving the reading and writing experiences
- Refining feed/card behavior and basic interactions
- Adapting screens properly across mobile sizes
- Creating a small, consistent component/design system
- Producing clean Figma files and UX states ready for engineering handoff
We especially value editorial design experience; LOOM’s beta has intentionally simple UX, so the focus is on making each interface feel beautiful, distinctive, and effortless to use, and we’re looking for someone who genuinely connects with the taste already visible in our current Figma and is excited to work very closely with the founder through frequent, collaborative communication and iteration.
This is a fully remote, part-time contract role, with an estimated project timeline of around one month.
Compensation: USD $2,300 total for a project-based contract
Location: Fully remote
