About our Team:
The Lancet Regional Health – Europe is a Open Access journal, part of the Lancet's global initiative to advocate for health-care quality and access in all regions of the world. We are a small and friendly team handling a high volume of submissions while priding ourselves on offering a personalised service to the researchers who publish with us. About the Role:
The Lancet Regional Health – Europe is an Open Access journal that advocates for health-care quality and access across the region. As Senior Editor, you will work closely with fellow Senior Editors and the Editor-in-Chief to shape the journal’s content, collaborate with researchers and health experts, and help deliver impactful research that informs policy and improves health outcomes. This is an opportunity to engage with leading research, build relationships across the regional and global health community, and contribute to the continued growth of a respected journal.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute critically to the selection of journal content by assessing both de novo submissions and manuscript transfers from across The Lancet journals, working collaboratively with colleagues to identify high-quality content that is well suited to the journal.
- Identify experts to act as peer reviewers on selected submissions.
- Write editorials.
- Commission content to build our journal’s profile among the communities we serve and handle special project content as necessary.
- Develop and maintain links with the regional health community to solicit high-quality research and thought leadership for the journal.
- Attend conferences and other events, to represent the journal, to identify suitable topics and authors, and to keep up-to-date with current developments in regional health.
- Actively promote the journal and its content through social media and other communication channels, including contributing to multimedia activities, such as journal podcasts.
- Suggest and help develop new initiatives for future growth and enhancement of the journal.
Requirements:
- Research experience in a relevant field or experience in the wider development community.
- Editorial experience, with a good understanding of all aspects of the journal publishing process would be an added advantage but not an absolute requirement.
- First-class critical analysis skills.
- A genuine commitment to equity in health and health care.
- An unfailingly can-do attitude.
- Enjoy collaborating with teams to deliver successful projects and initiatives on time.
- Have a natural ability to engage, influence and build relationships with stakeholders, teams and our community.
- Be accustomed to diversity and working globally and can connect with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrate alignment with the Lancet’s values.
