Creative Assembly is looking for an experienced Senior Animator to join our Total War team based at our studio in Horsham, in the heart of West Sussex.
In this role, you will help define the animation quality bar for our Total War products, mentor both internal and external animators, and collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams to develop and refine animation systems, tools, and pipelines.
A strong communicator and organiser, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality, performant animations that elevate gameplay and support the creative vision across our projects.
What you’ll be doing
On a day-to-day basis, you will:

Animation Vision: Work with internal and external stakeholders to define and set benchmarks for animation style and quality.

Animation Expertise: Create high-quality keyframe and motion capture animations that enhance gameplay, demonstrating a strong ability to adapt across a diverse range of animation styles and subjects. Proven track record in accurately interpreting and effectively implementing feedback.

Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work with other disciplines to devise new systems and ensure animations support and enhance gameplay.

Pipeline & Tools: Help define and improve animation workflows, tools, and pipelines to optimize efficiency and quality.

Mentor & Inspire: Provide creative and technical mentorship to both internal and external animators, fostering growth and excellence.
What we are looking for:
Essential:

Thorough knowledge of animation pipelines

Excellent problem-solving skills

Strong hand-key and motion 66capture animation skills for both humans and creatures

Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.

In-depth knowledge of game development workflows and mechanics.

Strong organisational skills, with the ability to follow, adapt, and evolve processes while maintaining clear and up-to-date documentation.
