We are looking for an experienced and proactive Internal Communications and Events Manager to lead the planning and delivery of engaging communications and colleague events that connect, inform and inspire more than 130,000 colleagues across 1,100 Asda sites.

This role will play a key part in bringing our strategy, culture and priorities to life through compelling communications, impactful colleague engagement campaigns and the successful delivery of major colleague events. The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with excellent execution, managing both communications activity and high-profile events that engage colleagues across the business.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Develop and deliver multi-channel internal communications and colleague engagement plans aligned to Asda's strategic priorities.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of major colleague engagement events, conferences, roadshows and leadership forums.
  • Manage all aspects of event delivery, including project plans, budgets, suppliers, logistics, production and stakeholder engagement.
  • Manage and continuously improve internal communication channels, ensuring content is clear, timely and accessible to all colleagues.
  • Partner with senior leaders to provide communications and events support, strategic counsel and content development.
  • Develop and execute event communication plans, managing colleague engagement before, during and after events.
  • Measure the effectiveness of communications and events, using insight and feedback to improve future activity.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in internal communications, colleague engagement or corporate communications within a large and complex organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience planning and delivering large-scale colleague or corporate events.
  • Strong communication, storytelling and content creation skills across a range of channels and audiences.
  • Experience developing and delivering integrated communication and engagement campaigns.
  • Hands-on experience using digital communication platforms, including Viva Engage (Yammer).
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work effectively with senior leaders.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience using data and insight to measure impact and inform future plans.
  • Experience managing event suppliers, agencies and budgets.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting organisational change or transformation programmes.
  • Familiarity with virtual event platforms and audience engagement tools.

Personal Attributes:

  • Collaborative and approachable, with excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Creative, proactive and solutions-focused.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and taking initiative.
  • Resilient and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passionate about creating engaging colleague experiences through both communications and events.

Everything you'll love:

To ensure we balance moments where we know we need to collaborate together and the need for flexibility, Asda has a hybrid way of working with a minimum 3 days a week in one of our Home Offices. Over and above this, each area of Asda may have additional requirements which may require spending more days in the office, visiting suppliers, stores or depots.

You will also get an excellent benefits package including:

  • Discretionary company bonus

  • Company pension up to 7% matched

  • Company Car allowance of £5,700

  • 15% colleague discount in store and online

  • Free access to wellbeing services such as Stream, 24/7 virtual GP, counselling, health and dental cash plans and a 24/7 employee assistance helpline, alongside discounts across a range of services and activities, from airport parking, enhanced to theme parks and cinemas.

  • Asda Allies Inclusion Networks – helping colleagues to make sure everybody is included and that our differences are recognised and celebrated

  • Excellent parental leave policies, including maternity & adoption leave, paternity leave, shared parental leave, neonatal care leave, and support for those doing fertility treatments.

We want all colleagues to be able to bring their best and true selves to work, every day. Simply put, we want our colleagues to be Proud to be Asda and proud to be themselves
