Designer - Menswear Outerwear

Position Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Designer to join our Menswear Outerwear team here at our Head Office in South Shields on a temporary maternity cover basis. This role will be responsible for the design and development of seasonal ranges of Menswear Outerwear in line with critical path deadlines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create products taking into account features, price points, margin and intro dates, and with reference to market trends and relevance to Barbour.
- Deliver product in line with the seasonal objectives for each category and target markets.
- Design ranges in line with the Barbour brand DNA, following the seasonal brief
- Work to a seasonal critical path for product launch.
- Through regular market visits and range reviews with key representatives, demonstrate an
- understanding of the key markets in which to grow sales.
- To create an accurate, detailed technical specification for each product suitable for global
- manufacture.
- To create appropriate presentation & branding packs to communicate the range direction
- Have the ability to progress product lines and ranges by creating comprehensive mood and
- colour boards in line with the Barbour brand DNA.
- Drive design development of key shapes, fabrics and relevant new colours with the fabric
- development team for each season.
- To work closely with the technical team and manufacturing base, to create prototype and
- selling samples to the required fit and specification, in line with the critical path deadlines.
- To investigate and propose potential new suppliers where necessary and work directly with
- manufactures to develop new seasonal concept prototypes.
- To provide accurate information on all products to the Marketing and E Commerce teams.
- Prepare all product lines and product presentation packs for sales launch.
- Have the ability to present all ranges in detail to the sales team and distributors
- To manage special, make up packages for key accounts adhering to the business-critical path and process
- To design and develop collab collections in line with the internal critical path.
- To undertake any other reasonable activity, as may be required by senior management.
Skills and Experience:
- Hold degree in clothing and fashion design (desirable).
- Experience in Designing in applicable clothing brands.
- Have knowledge of product development from concept to consumer launch.
- Have proven experience in the branded clothing industry and especially useful the younger man’s clothing market.
- Must have knowledge of garment construction and fit across a range of categories
- Established experience of designing, developing and presenting products
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Barbour brand positioning, it’s heritage and
- competitor brands
- Experience in creating clothing for multiple global markets
- Excellent working knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop packages
