Role Summary:
Urban Outfitters is currently looking for an Assistant Garment Technologist to join our Womenswear team. This role works closely with the product lifecycle, ensuring high standards of garment quality, fit, and functionality. Working closely with designers, buyers, and suppliers, the role involves managing technical aspects from concept to completion while maintaining compliance, ethical standards, and commercial viability.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Manage own product classes carrying out a range of technical, investigative work to ensure the product is delivered to the best of standards.
- Conduct and manage garment fittings with live model, providing technical support and problem-solving solutions to designers and buyers from initial concept through to sealing stage.
- Ensuring garments meet customers’ expectations in terms of quality and fit.
- Risk assessment of fabrics and construction and their suitability for the end use.
- Effectively communicate with the global supply chain and build vendor relationships.
- Onboard new factories in line with Urban ways of working.
- Managing factory base, including ethical compliance and supply chain visibility.
- Ensuring department standards are maintained.
- Commercial decision making.
- Test report approvals and analysis.
- Quality control reporting and analysis of product returns.
- Delivering on projects in line with business requirements.

- Being able to build great relationships is very important to this role. Internal relationships that are critical will be with the technical team, buying team, design team as well as cross functional relationships in the EU and North America offices.
- Excellent communication skills, technical training and understanding of pattern cutting needed.
- Strong knowledge of fabric, garment construction, technical drawing, measuring and fitting also required.
