We are seeking a law graduate, with some experience in a legal or publishing environment to join the Practical Law team in the UK.
Practical Law is a leading online know-how service providing rigorous, peer-reviewed resources, such as practice notes, current awareness and standard documents to help legal professionals work smarter and advise with confidence. Key Responsibilities:
As an Assistant Editor in the Practical Law Global team, you will use your developing legal knowledge and experience to assist your colleagues devise, provide and maintain a wide range of Practical Law content. Working in a supportive global team of highly experienced colleagues, you will deal with a breadth of interesting legal and editorial work including:
- Creating new and maintaining existing materials spanning a variety of formats.
- Reviewing and editing content written internally and externally.
- Liaising with contributors in relation to their content, including in relation to requests for annual reviews.
- Providing administrative and publishing support, ensuring that content is produced in compliance with technical and editorial requirements and helping to maintain internal content database.
- Providing support in relation to new legal AI and technology-driven projects.
Required Qualifications:
You're a fit for this of role of Assistant Editor if your background includes:
- An undergraduate law degree (2:1 or above), or an undergraduate degree in another subject (2:1 or above) together with a completed law conversion course.
- Knowledge or experience of international or cross-border legal practice, or experience in legal publishing, including editing content by contributors whose first language is not English.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write and edit clearly under guidance.
- Strong organisational skills; experience of managing or coordinating large volumes of content or data would be an advantage.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- The ability to meet deadlines, prioritise tasks and manage their own workload.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn relevant Practical Law and Thomson Reuters applications.
- Undergraduate Law Degree.
- Undergraduate Degree in a subject other than Law and Post Graduate Diploma in Law (or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications:
- A strong interest in AI, confidence in using technology and the ability to adapt quickly to new tools.
