The Role:

We are looking for a passionate and driven Senior Designer with extensive experience in a high street retail/fashion brand to join us and be an integral part of our dynamic Design team.
You live and breathe all things fashion with a finger on the pulse of the latest trends at all times. You will be eager to bring forward new ideas and jump straight in.
Reporting into the Senior Head of Design you will be responsible for designing and developing a fantastic range of woven tops/blouses.

Design:
• Customer obsessed with a strong ability to spot and react to upcoming trends. Ensuring we are offering frequent newness and giving her what she craves.
• Identifying key items, newness and opportunities within the woven tops/blouses department and developing these into a commercial standout range.
• Working as part of the wider in-house Design team. Creating seasonal macro-overviews and monthly micro trends. Providing trend direction for shape, colour, print and detail.
Utilising social, catwalks, online and physical shopping (once we’re able).
• Constantly researching the latest product, colour and fabric trends with an eye for new details and bringing new ideas to the table. Innovating your department.
• A strong eye for print, colour, fabric and shape.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships across BMD and the wider business. Working with the buying team to build commercial and fashion forward ranges that offer the customer the best assortment of product across all channels.
• Excellent organizational skills and time management to meet critical path deadlines.
• Ability to deliver clear and detailed tech packs for factories with a thorough approach to avoid mistakes.
• Daily overseas communication and management of development samples to meet deadlines.
• Working with the wider design team to collaborate on new ideas and possible opportunities within the business.
• Completing and reporting back on New Look store visits and competitor shopping across retail and e-com.
• Having a positive ‘cando’ attitude and nurturing junior members.
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to take constructive feedback, to learn and grow with the business.
• Willingness to take on new responsibilities and ownership through additional roles and responsibilities.

Team:
• Working with the wider softs team, including buying and merchandising to ensure we deliver the strongest ranges possible and a department strategy that reflects the business.
• The ability to be versatile and chip in to help other departments if and when required.
•  You will be happy to work as part of a highly productive team in an ever, changing environment.

About You:

Knowledge and Experience:
• Previous experience as a Womenswear Designer within a high street retail/fashion brand preferably working on woven tops or softs departments.
• A pretty hand-writing. Our customer loves pretty.
• Proven experience in successfully driving overall trend direction including key items, colour, fabric and ways to wear.
• Experience working closely with external short and long lead suppliers (specifically Far east, Indian, Turkish and UK suppliers).
• Knowledge of woven is essential and jersey product is desirable.
• Proven experience in presenting seasonal trend direction to buying, design, merchandising and directors.

Minimum level of education or qualifications:
Fashion Design Qualification ideally at degree level in print or relevant experience

Technical Skills:
• Excellent knowledge of adobe packages including photoshop, illustrator and indesign.
• Demonstrate technical knowledge of product including construction, fabric, fit and techniques.
• Solid presentation skills
