Product Designer
This job listing has expired JobAbout Selina Finance:
At Selina Finance, our mission is to let people access the wealth locked up in their homes, and we’re doing that by building a next-generation digital lender - starting with a home equity loan product. More than £2tn equity value is locked up in UK homes, while homeowners still need to rely on high-interest rate consumer loans, credit cards or overdrafts. We believe this is unfair and unnecessary. We offer a financing product unlike anything else out there, one that is as flexible as a current account, as affordable as a mortgage, and as easy to apply for as a consumer loan. If you want to help build an innovative FinTech with us, join our team!
What you’ll do:
- Get involved as our first design hire and own the design for our big (and small) projects from start to finish while helping us shape the future design direction of Selina Finance.
- Apply strategic thinking to design effective, engaging end to end experiences which balance user needs, business goals, and technological realities across platforms.
- Be responsible for all design artefacts produced; from initial discovery and user journey mapping through to wireframes and ultimately the execution of final UI design details.
- Work with internal teams to plan and execute user research to gather feedback and iterate on ideas while gaining a deep understanding of our customers.
- Support brand alignment across all our internal and external communications, digital platforms and product marketing.
- Design campaign assets and customer communications along with other design tasks as and when needed.
Job requirements:
- 3 - 6 years experience leading the design of innovative digital products in a fast-growing company, ideally in the FinTech/PropTech space.
- A portfolio of effective UX/UI design work which you can talk us through.
- Ability to persuasively articulate why you designed something the way you did to your colleagues and senior management.
- A good understanding of typography, imagery, layout, colour and how they can be used to tell a compelling story to our customers and create a great user experience.
- A passion for thinking out of the box and solving customer problems using design tools and techniques.
- Ability to quickly adapt to a variety of different designs problems as and when these arise.
- You know Figma (or Sketch) and Adobe Creative Suite inside out, and can comfortably navigate through these tools in your sleep.
- You are able to effectively manage your time, prioritize tasks and work within deadlines with little supervision (while also knowing when to ask for advice).
- Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, advanced skills however would be highly desirable.
What we offer:
- Market competitive salary and stock options.
- 25 days holiday in addition to 8 bank holidays.
- Company contributory pension scheme.
- A values-based culture.
- A supportive, driven culture and a great team with an outstanding mix of talent and experience.
- A dynamic environment in which you can personally learn, develop and make an impact.
- Strong involvement in shaping a young FinTech business from its early days.
- Breakfast, fresh fruit and snacks and a programme of team social events.
