Where does this role fit within Ted's Team?
We’re looking for a wordsmith with exceptional talent to join our digital creative team in Central London. Reporting into the eCommerce Production Manager and working alongside translator copywriters and the wider Copy team (Brand and Digital), you’ll be responsible for ensuring tone of voice and handwriting are evident at every turn, whilst writing descriptive, unique copy for an array of digital communications. You’ll have a natural flair with words, exceptional vocabulary and an impressive knowledge of SEO, fashion and retail. Above all, we’re looking for someone who shares our quirky sense of humour and attention to detail.
Main responsibilities:
As eCommerce Product Copywriter, you’ll be responsible for digital copy across menswear, womenswear, kidswear and homeware categories. Working closely with ecommerce production, design and buying, you’ll absorb key product features, USPs and ways to wear, creating compelling product descriptions that sit across our global channels. • Take responsibility for all product and category copy on English language websites, ensuring it is consistently delivered on time and to a high standard.
• Write category text and background information on collections, prints and product ranges.
• Write clear and compelling copy to describe products.
• Ensure all content produce is true to the product and consistent with our brand.
• Work closely with design, buying and merchandising to develop an understanding of the inspiration behind upcoming collections and seasonal launches.
• Update product descriptions as needed.
• Implement Search Engine Optimisation best practice in all copy created to maximize reach to our target audience.
• Review the website copy to identify areas for improvements.
• Proof-read all online content before publishing.
• On an ad-hoc basis, support Ted’s online trading, production and Digital and Brand copywriters’ teams.
• Work alongside in house translations team to ensure information and best practice processes are shared across product copywriters for all languages.
Must haves:
• Strong writing and editorial skills - including experience of writing copy for a live web environment.
• You’ll be an expert in balancing engaging copy and rich content, with commercial goals.
• Good understanding of SEO best practices and how content can support SEO.
• You are a great storyteller with a British sense of humour and you have the ability to wear many hats with your copywriting.
• You’ll have excellent time management skills, with the ability to self-manage and adapt to change.
• Must have a keen interest in fashion and a passion for Ted Baker’s product and brand.
• Your English language and vocabulary will be second to none with excellent verbal and written communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• You’ll be a creative thinker with a hard-working, proactive attitude that thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working to tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of how to work with Microsoft Office tools.
• Experience on how to use a CMS desirable, but not essential.
• Overall, you’ll be a Ted brand ambassador, delivering inspirational and engaging copy that appeals to all markets.
