What are we looking for?

At Momentum, Strategy plays an integral role in delivering innovative and thoughtful strategic solutions to complex brand and communications challenges on behalf of a portfolio of clients to our clients.  This drives successful campaigns. The Director of Strategy will be tasked with spearheading and growing a strategy discipline in the UK and making Momentum a key player in this market. They will also be responsible for being a strategic client partner and advisor, serving as an engagement manager across multiple clients and initiatives including – experience strategies, shopper strategies, virtual experience design, sponsorship/partnership portfolio management strategies, B2B & B2C experiential/events

The ideal candidate will have a broad skillset, ideally with a mix of digital, sponsorship, media strategy and analytics in their background.  They would have successfully grown a business and led a high performing team.  The Director of Strategy will have 10+ years of experience.

This role will also be a key member on the UK Board, and part of shaping the wider vision and future of the Agency.

Here’s what you’ll do:

Key Responsibilities include leading client engagements, forming and growing trusted client relationships, creating high-impact strategic content and maintaining client profitability. Serve as engagement manager across multiple clients and initiatives.

  • Develop role as strategic client partner and advisor across ongoing brand initiatives.
  • Create and direct innovative and thoughtful strategic solutions to complex brand and communications challenges on behalf of a portfolio of clients.
  • Consult with clients on a range of strategic brand initiatives, including – experience strategies, shopper strategies, virtual experience design, sponsorship/partnership portfolio management strategies, B2B & B2C experiential/events.
  • Build upon a deepening knowledge of business, brand and clients to deliver strategies that continually evolve client brands.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams and partners to build and execute on strategic recommendations that will ultimately be brought to market across multiple channels.
  • Collaborate with creative teams to shape creative expression and execution.
  • Inspire and mentor junior strategy team members.
  • Promote and develop the UK office’s unique culture to encourage a collaborative, openly communicative, and enjoyable working environment.
  • Lead the group as a high performing team, championing and executing a talent strategy to ensure the best people are attracted, developed, and retained.
  • Responsible for setting the standard for talent in the agency and for ensuring a diverse workforce and inclusive environment.
  • Mentor and inspire strategy team within the agency, supporting them in the management and success of their teams, improving client satisfaction and account retention.

Required Skills:

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Experience in a related position in a Events, Branding, Marketing or Advertising Agency, or related professional services.
  • Looking for an all-around utility player with a varied strategic background, but leading strategy in the following areas is preferred - digital strategy, sponsorship strategy, analytics strategy, media strategy.
  • Experience with exceptional client service delivery.
  • Experience leading a team is required.
  • A track record of growing the business year over year is required.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to instill confidence in clients and across internal teams.
  • Must be an excellent verbal and written communicator, comfortable preparing proposals, presentations and speaking in front of groups.
  • Passion for branding with strong understanding of leading brand thinking and constructs.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Creative problem solver.
  • Ability to manage and mentor junior members of the team.
  • Must be a self-starter and nimble multi-tasker, able to handle large, complex projects.
